Münze Deutschland is the official sales agency for commemorative and collector coins of the Federal Republic of Germany. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Münze Deutschland sells its quality products exclusively to both private customers and coin traders.

Minting has a long tradition in Germany. The oldest mint in Germany still active today has been existing since 834. The first DM collector coin of the Federal Republic of Germany was issued in 1953. In November 1967, the Official Sales Agency for Collector Coins (VfS) was founded, which operates under the name of Münze Deutschland today. While, at the beginning, only 5 DM coins were offered for sale, the portfolio has continuously developed until today.

New techniques, such as dome-shaped coinage, the production of coloured coins or of coins with a polymer ring, as well as the first coins with niobium finishing in 2021, reflect the innovative capacity of Münze Deutschland.

However, the cultural and educational mission still has a high priority with German collector coins.

Collecting coins is still an exciting hobby for young and old. It allows to broaden in an entertaining way one’s knowledge about German history, well-known towns, cities and regions, art and culture, science and technology.
